September 10, 2004
We made Ramen noodles for lunch today and it was almost done and Ruth had been as patient as she could but she was really hungry so she started tapping my leg and repeating "paer" over and over. I finally figured out what she was talking about when she went to her usual spot for prayer over the food. We had not table at the time so we stood in the kitchen and her spot was in front of the dishwasher. So she stood there with her little arms folded and waited to say the "paer" so she could eat her "noonle soop"! A few days before we were gathering for the prayer over dinner and she had a Pocahontas doll that she didn't want to put down but she just couldn't figure out how to fold her arms and hold it at the same time, so i propped it up next to her. the next night we didn't have prayer until Pocahontas was standing next to her!
An example of one of Ruthie's prayers at 19 months: "Ha Father...gibberish for a few seconds...AH-MEN!"
